North American Student Symposium – Feb 3rd-5th
We had a great time in Houston, TX at the North American Student Symposium (NASS). The symposium consisted of the North American Petrobowl competition, in which our team competed to win 3rd place! It also consisted of field trips to the plants and labs of various oilfield service companies, a career exhibition, a state of the industry presentation by incoming SPE president Shauna Noonan, and technical presentations. Thanks to the University of Houston for hosting, and to our very own LSU SPE President, Nehaal Kathuria, for being a Director on the committee to plan this conference.
SPE General Meeting with FESCO – Jan 31st
We enjoyed having FESCO with us for our first meeting of the semester! A big thanks to presenter Justin Findley for speaking to us about the company and the products and services they provide.

2019 LSU SPE Paper Contest
Thank you to our SPE Faculty Advisor, Mehdi Zeidouni, the judges, and all the contestants for participating in the 2019 LSU SPE Student Paper Contest! Lots of brilliant research contributions were shared and we look forward to LSU’s success in the regionals in Pennsylvania.

SPE with Megalex Rods – Nov 15th
A big thanks to Megalex for closing out the semester with our last SPE event! We enjoyed hearing about carbon fiber sucker rods from Mr. Mitchell Hale, founder of the company.
Chevron Mentorship Bowling Night – Oct 30th
Chevron mentors took out their mentees for a night on the town bowling. It was a blast for them bonding with each other.
General meeting with Anadarko – Oct 11
Anadarko visited Baton Rouge to speak about their opportunities for LSU’s engineers.
Lunch and Learn with Covia Corp – Oct 12
Covia Corp visited Baton Rouge and treated LSU’s chapter to a lunch and learn session to talk about their projects and technologies in their industry.

Exxon Mobil visited Baton Rouge to speak about their projects and work in the industry.
ATCE – Sept 24th-26th
LSU SPE members attended ATCE in Dallas to learn more about the latest technology in the oil and gas industry as well as network with industry professionals and other students. LSU’s very own Petrobowl took 2nd place internationally! Our student chapter was also recognized as an outstanding student chapter!
Marathon Oil Information Session – Sept 17th
Thanks to recent LSU graduate Scott coming to talk to us about possible futures and opportunities with Marathon Oil.
Total Offshore Drilling Course – Sept 10th-14th
Thanks to Total and Mr. Philippe for coming out to LSU to teach the week-long TPA course on deepwater drilling techniques. We appreciate the joint efforts of SPE, AADE and Pi Epsilon Tau for collaborating to make this a success.
Chesapeake Info Session – Sept 6th 2018
A big thanks to Chesapeake Energy for hosting such a great information session. We loved hearing all about the company and their internship program!
Knock Knock Children’s Museum – Sept 1st 2018
A group of LSU SPE members sacrificed their Labor Day Saturday and volunteered at the Knock Knock Children’s Museum with their STEAM (Science Technology Engineering Art and Math) program spending time with the children.
General Meeting with Chevron – Aug 30th 2018
Chevron visited Baton Rouge to speak about their projects and work in the industry. Great turnout for the first meeting of the year!
Deepwater Symposium – Aug 27th – 29th 2018
Students got the opportunity to learn about new projects and technological advances happening in the Gulf of Mexico.

A group of LSU students had a booth where they spoke with LSU engineering students in Petroleum or not, about joining the Society of Petroleum Engineers.

Roughneck Camp – July 12th 2018
LSU students attended the 2018 Rough Neck Camp for young professionals in Spring, Texas. Students were able to learn from the round table discussions focused on entrepreneurship in the oil and gas industry. Thanks to ExxonMobil for hosting!
Knock Knock Children’s Museum – July 8th 2018
A group of LSU SPE members volunteered at the Knock Knock Children’s Museum with their STEAM (Science Technology Engineering Art and Math) program spending time with the children.
